Web Design: How to make the best of it?
We believe that website building is a creative process. Thus, we will present it without delving into too much detail regarding the coding itself. Rather, the article focuses on the design and the appearance. It provides you with some of the basic concepts and steps of successful website building.
Recommendation #1: Branding
Your website should illustrate your business’ core values. The message itself should be embedded in all of the brand’s visual elements. Such elements are the colors of your logo, the style of your headlines and links and the background. Other parts of the brand’s visual identity are the fonts and the arrangement of elements into banners, advertisements and others. The website should represent this identity and “be the face” of your business. Invest in the choice of colors and incorporate those in all of your visual elements.
Recommendation #2: Colors
As colors are an essential part of brand recognition, we are going to introduce you to the color wheel. This is a very helpful tool for the search of appropriate color combinations. From colors that complement each other to contrasting ones, you can play around with all sorts of palettes. Choosing the right combination is crucial for sending the correct message. It is no coincidence that terms, such as “warm” or “cold” colors, and colors that prompt tranquility or aggression, exist.
Recommendation #3: User Friendly Interface
This may seem obvious, but you will be surprised at the number of high-quality websites that have only a few subscribers due to bad user experience. Make your website user-friendly and interactive. Do you want to be contacted? Put your phone number in the main menu in a color that highlights it. Do you offer services in the sphere of web design and ERP systems? Make it clear by using appropriate images and sliders. Our website is a good illustration for this. Use icons, graphs and clear, easily readable fonts to navigate the user towards the direction you want.
Recommendation #4: Creative content
How? The easiest way is to create a blog. There is too much fact-based information out there. The users are tired of definitions and template based content. Add clear and concise descriptions of your products or ideas, but add something from the heart as well. The easiest way to show there are real people behind your brand is to share. Your blog can include anything from news related to your business, to personal experience and thoughts. Have you read a thought-provoking article from your professional sphere that you wish to share? Do that in your blog! Do you feel like you have useful recommendations for your clients? Write a short article and post it on your blog, just the way we have done it in this article.
Recommendation #5: Get acquainted with your users
This recommendation comes hand-in-hand with the concept of having “real people behind the brand’s image”. Introduce your team! It is important and desirable for the clients to know there are real people behind all those emails and text messages. Create a web page that introduces all team members, including their names, positions and a brief description to bring more life to their images. Do not go in much detail regarding their education or career path. Let us clarify this last bit.
If John Smith is your main IT specialist, you can add a detailed description of his qualifications and the number of projects he has worked on. There is nothing wrong with this approach.
Alternatively, you could build a stronger connection between John and your clients. You can do this by presenting him as the person who has successfully survived for over 5 years in the Matrix, smiling and holding an energy drink in his hand, ready to take on the next project.
Recommendation #6: Portfolio
Users of the 21st century are agnostic. Being such, they find it hard to put their trust in promises of “professionalism”. If you want to attract clients, you need to demonstrate your experience and skills through examples. The perfect solution is to create a portfolio. Be creative in order to get the most out of it. Use this opportunity to strengthen your relations with your clients. Offer them to participate in your portfolio, while advertising them for free. After presenting the project, include some user leap links and contact details. By doing so, you kill two birds with one stone.
